Tele2 keeps price leadership

Moscow − Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has become the most profitable operator in terms of an average basket of services for individuals − that is according to ComNews Research independent agency. Tele2 has also taken leading positions in the report on the company’s corporate tariffs.

ComNews Research analysts have carried out the research of all tariffs available to individuals and corporate clients in all constituent territories of the Russian Federationfrom September 2015 to February 2017. For the fifth year in a row, Tele2 is becoming the most profitable operator in an average basket of services. Thus, the cost of mobile services for Tele2 clients totaled 199 rubles for Tele2 individuals, which is 33% lower than average Russian indicator.

Tele2 is a leader in terms of a number of Russian constituent territories where its average and expensive baskets of services are considered as most profitable. Their number totals 54 and 51 regions correspondently, which is equivalent to 68% and 61% of a total number of regions assessed by ComNews Research.

At the beginning of 2017, Tele2 launched a new federal tariff range for individuals with lower prices. The operator’s proposals include a bigger volume of traffic, whereas calls on the network do not expend a bundle of minutes.

Tele2 is taking leading positions in six of seven baskets in the corporate segment: telemetry (115 rubles), standard (230 rubles), universal (230 rubles), SOHO (2 505 rubles), SMB (21 150 rubles) and LE (113 350 rubles). Besides, Tele2 has been recognized as undisputed leader in terms of a number of regions where the operator is offering the biggest number of profitable tariffs.

ComNews Research is using a methodology for calculating portfolio of services (“basket”) applied by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. To assess tariffs of various operators, the company is choosing the most profitable tariff for three different types of consumer behavior: low, moderate and high use of services. Each of them corresponds to a certain basket of mobile services – basic, average and expensive one.

Corporate tariffs are divided into seven baskets that enter various subgroup: for private business (unlimited use, standard, telemetry, universal, SOHO), average business (SMB) and large businesses (LE). Besides, ComNews Research has calculated an average cost of mobile services for corporate clients for the first time – at the beginning of 2017, it was set at 250 rubles.
