Moscow – Tele2, the alternative mobile operator, has launched the sale of SIM cards at Moscow airports. Now customers can use Mobilebox vending machines to both purchase accessories for their smartphones and connect to the My Online mobile plan. The cards purchased this way can be useful for clients during a business trip or vacation in the capital region.
Passenger traffic at the four Moscow airports is gradually recovering. According to Tele2, the data activity of metropolitan subscribers at the Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo and Zhukovsky airports during this summer (June to August) was twice as much when compared to last year.
To ensure a comfortable vacation or business trip to customers in the capital region, the operator launched a joint project with the Mobilebox vending machine network. Now Moscow visitors can use them to buy everything they need for their phones: a Moscow Region SIM-card with self registration, headphones and chargers.
The machines are installed in common areas and departure and arrival terminals for international and domestic flights at three airports: Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky. In the near future, the operator plans to launch sale of SIM-cards on the territory of Vnukovo airport. All vending machines can be accessed to make purchases at any time of the day.
The available mobile plan is My Online, which includes 500 minutes of calls, 15 Gb of Internet traffic and unlimited access to social networks and instant messengers. The SIM-card can be purchased for 300 rubles with an installment plan for the first subscription fee: immediately after activation, the subscriber will have 350 minutes and 10.5 Gb for three weeks. To continue using the plan, the user has to top up the balance by 100 rubles by the end of the month.
Anton Zhukovskiy, Commercial Director of the Moscow macroregion at Tele2:
“The general trend towards retail robotization has been reflected in Tele2's retail development strategy for several years now. Customers love the self-service concept, so we are responding to this request. Growing number of customers is connecting to the network remotely, making a choice in favor of their own comfort. Thus, launching sales of SIM-cards at Moscow airports minimizes the time and money spent on connecting to the network. The card is ready to be used in 1-2 minutes after the purchase.”
The Tele2 Mobilebox network has 56 vending machine sale points in Moscow Region. 41 terminals with the ability to purchase Tele2 SIM cards are installed at airports, another 15 in shopping centers, supermarkets, hotels and railway stations.
